Many methods of securing confidential information have surfaced over the last few years but most, if not all, become more difficult to use and implement as the levels of security required get higher and higher. The design goal of the KeyDrive Advanced Encryption System is to offer very high levels of security and encryption but with an ease of use that would make the implementation of the security system painless. To achieve this goal KeyDrive implements hardware based authentication using a device policy and a personal administration program. By only allowing the authenticated user access to the encryption and decryption capabilities of KeyDrive it is not possible for any third party not in possession of the valid authentication device to gain unauthorized access to the secured information. KeyDrive manages all access to the encryption and decryption capabilities via the authentication device. A user must be in possession of the authentication device and have been properly authenticated to the device by supplying a user PIN number established by the user during the initial administration set-up. Without a valid key and proper authentication it is not possible to access the information protected by KeyDrive. The KeyDrive Advanced Encryption System consists of three discrete elements…
